Tips For Making Your Way As An Entrepreneur

If you are an entrepreneur, and are like most entrepreneurs, one of your primary motivations for starting on this path was the idea that you would eventually be able to make far more money than you could make at a conventional job, all while having a lot more flexibility and perhaps even working fewer hours down the road; what most people find, however, is that this is far from the reality they end up living in as they get their entrepreneurial efforts off the ground - and part of the reason for this is that they have never quite figured out the approach that will enable them to get the most out of their efforts.

The first thing you will want to make sure you are focusing on, in order to get the most out of your entrepreneurial efforts, is figuring out how to market yourself and your business better; succeeding in business is all about getting the word out there, and your means for doing this can range from paying for advertising to partnering with other businesses to using search engine optimization online!

In addition to figuring out the creative things you can do to get the word out there more, you should also start looking at the things you can potentially do to increase sales; realize that "sales" - in any area of entrepreneurial efforts - will largely come down to how well you are able to "sell" yourself or your product, and there are plenty of creative things you can do to increase your effectiveness in this area.

And finally, start keeping an eye on the way you spend your time, and figure out what you can do differently to get more out of your efforts in less time invested! Once you are able to combine a creative approach in this area with a fully-realized strategy for getting your name and your efforts out there and for "selling" yourself and your product, you will find that your level of success is rising higher than ever before.

Tips For Saving Money With "The Rule Of Two Days"

This is a situation each of us has probably dealt with at least once or twice: we see an item in the store that we really do not need (at least, we never realized we "needed" it until we saw it in the store!), and all of a sudden we can think of nothing but that item; we "have to" have it, and so - of course - we pick it up and buy it! There are times when this turns out to be a good purchase, but there are plenty of other times when we get home with this item and immediately regret having spent the money on it - or, where we are happy with the item for a while, and then it disappears altogether.

If you are making an effort to be smarter with your money, one thing that is worth considering is using the "rule of two days" - which calls for you to wait on purchasing an item until at least two days after that "craving" for the item started; and once you start following the rule of two days, you will find that you often end up not buying the item at all!

Once you have incorporated this rule as a regular part of your life, it will also be beneficial for you to keep a notebook in which you write all the things that you are wanting to buy; once you do this, you will have written down all the items that you have already decided you feel comfortable buying, which will make things easier when a craving hits you in a store. If you are in a store and an item jumps out at you, imploring you to buy it, you can pick it up and buy it right then if it is already on your list as something you have been looking for. But if the item is not something you have been wanting for a while, mark it down in your notebook, and see if it is still on your list in two days; if it is, you will know for certain that you are not just wasting your money by picking up that item!

Tips For Writing Short Stories

You don't have to be an "aspiring novelist" or a working writer to have a desire to write a short story. For many people, short story writing is relaxing - it is fun, therapeutic, and enjoyable. Writing short stories can be a great hobby, and can enable you to use your free time in a productive manner. At the same time, however, it is not much fun at all if you write short stories that no one reads!

In modern American literature, few writers were as highly regarded as Kurt Vonnegut. For over fifty years - from the late 1940s to the mid-2000s - he wrote novels, essays, and short stories that were widely-read and highly acclaimed. At one point during Vonnegut's writing journey, he compiled his list of "rules" for short story writing. The next few paragraphs capture these ideas of his.

Vonnegut began his rules focused on what you should do for the reader - firstly, that you should make sure the reader won't leave your story feeling like they wasted their time, and secondly that you should give the reader at least one character they can root for. From here, Vonnegut stuck with characters next, saying that each of your characters should want something - even if this "something" is insignificant - and then he said that every sentence should either reveal character or advance action. Vonnegut goes on to tell you that you should make awful things happen to your characters, no matter how sweet they are. This allows the reader to see what the character is made of. He advises writers to start as close to the end as they possibly can, and to write to just please one person. You can understand this last one by realizing that if you write for one person, and that one person loves it, then every other person who has the same tastes as your "one person" will certainly love it also.

Finally, Vonnegut tells writers to give as much information as possible as quickly as possible. He says, "to heck with suspense." He claimed that the reader should always have a complete understanding of what is going on.

Of course, Vonnegut admitted that you can break all of these rules and still create a terrific short story. But you could sure do a lot worse than Kurt Vonnegut if you are going to find a writer to take advice from for writing short stories.

Building A Fire When Camping

Fire is one of the most essential elements of survival, and even though there is a good chance you will never be in a situation where you need fire "for survival," it will still be important for you to know how to build a fire when you are camping, as a campfire is a big part of enjoying the camping experience - so here is everything you need to know about successfully and safely building a campfire.

Most people bring matches or a butane lighter with them when they go camping, planning to use these to start a fire, but if matches get wet, they can become ruined, and a butane lighter will sometimes but stop working without any warning; when you go camping, it will be important that you make sure you have something that will enable you to start a fire every time such as a reliable and effective fire steel.

Of course, safety is going to be the most important aspect of building a fire, as you will want to do everything you can to make sure your fire does not become a fire that spreads to the whole forest or land around; before you build your fire, you should dig a small pit for it that is at least a few inches deep, and then you should line the outside of this pit with rocks, as these two steps will help to ensure that your fire remains contained.

After you have collected wood for this fire, you will be ready to start the fire; stack the wood over a pile of kindling, and then start the fire with some kindling in a small pile away from fire, and once this kindling is going, transport it to the larger pile of kindling, and soon you will have your fire building.

When building a campfire, another thing that will be important is that you keep a close eye on it, and that you cover it up completely before leaving your campsite the following morning; by following these steps, you will be able to have a wonderful, roaring fire at night, and will be able to make sure that this fire is safe, and that it stays exactly where it is supposed to stay!

Marketing Your Business Effectively

There are plenty of ways to market your business, and while some might tell you that the main thing is that you "find a way that works," the main thing, truly, is that you first make sure you find something! Too many businesses make no effort to market themselves in any way, and they consequently fail to keep their legs under them. Marketing is not difficult once you understand how to do it, but you have to make sure you understand how to do it if you want to remain in business. You can watch your business blossom once you are able to identify a marketing strategy (or a handful of marketing strategies) that you enjoy running, and that work effectively.

As you stare at your computer screen and read this, take a moment to think about the ways in which people use their time; usually, catching people where they spend their time is the best way to market, and once you start pondering this, you will realize that you and most of your potential customers spend a lot of time on the internet. From this realization, you can conclude that the internet is a veritable gold mine when it comes to marketing. With ads on the internet, you can often customize them to reach the exact audience that will be good for your ad, and you can cultivate high visibility and reach a broad audience. What's more, you can make sure that you only pay for ads that people show interest in with pay-per-click advertising. Pay-per-click advertising provides some of the best return on investment.

You can also advertise on the internet absolutely free! By using Twitter and facebook, you can get your name out there to a great number of users; this is especially effective if you already have an established name and presence. Each of these social networking platforms are free to use, and once you understand how to use them effectively, they can go a long way in helping you to spread the word about your business.

Finally, you can use the internet through email. Email marketing is one of the most effective marketing methods, and most programs for auto-responder technology are relatively inexpensive for the results you will achieve.

The chances of your business surviving are slim if you do not market it, and are nearly as slim if you do not have effective marketing. Figure out the marketing method that works for you, and then give it all your energy!

Skin Care Advice for Teens

image

Have teens with acne in your household? Looking for skin care advice for that troubled skin? Use these skin care tips as guidelines for clear, clean complexions.

Stay on top of your skin. It's important to wash in the morning and night, but you really shouldn't wash more than that. Too much washing (especially if you're using harsh soaps) will make your skin dry out and crack. Invest in a gentle cleanser, and never use soap.

Add an exfoliant to your routine, getting all the oil and dirt out of your pores. You can make a homemade scrub by taking three uncoated aspirin tablets and putting them in a small container with half a tablespoon of water. Crush it up with a spoon, mixing in the water. Then stir in a couple tablespoons of honey. Mix and use as a scrub on T-zone, which is the nose, forehead, and chin. Rinse with warm water.

Use moisturizer every morning and evening. Use a generous amount of a moisturizer with salicylic acid in it; this will protect you against additional break outs. Don't fear moisturizer will clog your pores; just use an oil-free one. The bigger problem is when you don’t moisturize, because then your skin is thirsty and overproduces oil to compensate for the dryness.

Stay away from cream makeup and liquid foundation if you have severe acne. Instead look for mineral powder make up, and use it very sparingly.

When dealing with serious blackhead problems, visit an esthetician and pay for a professional extraction. If you try to remove blackheads at home, be sure to wash your face and hands thoroughly, steam your face to open pores, and sterilize any instruments you use to assist the extraction. Try not to irreparably damage skin. It's worth it to prevent scarring or further infection; hire a professional, even if it's costly.

The small time investment will help you have glowing skin. Don't ignore your skin; problems can flare up quickly when skin gets irritated.

Tips For Using Groupon To Grow Your Business

It seems like Groupon is everywhere nowadays – with people always talking about it, with ads for Groupon always showing up online, and with many of your favorite restaurants or shopping stops offering great deals through Groupon – and if you own a small business of your own, you might have started wondering how you can use Groupon yourself. Signing up for and running a deal through Groupon is really a very simple process, but setting up your deal in such a way that it is successful is a bit more complicated, so make sure you read this guide to help you get started!

Some people make the mistake when running a deal through Groupon of offering people something that is a “throwaway item,” but realize that it is extremely important to offer something that people actually want; even if you only break even through the Groupon deal you are offering, this is still advantageous, as you will be bringing in new customers – many of whom will keep coming back!

Another thing that will be very important is that you are fully aware of what day the Groupon deal is going up on the Groupon website, as there will be many people who want to call with questions; be prepared to spend the day by the phone the first couple days that the ad is up so that you can answer any questions that come in and can keep the purchases rolling!

And once customers start coming in to use their Groupon coupon, it will go a long way in securing these new customers as regular customers if you have other deals in place as well; come up with some deals that will appeal to customers, and advertise them in your store, as this will stick in people's heads and make them much more likely to continue coming back so they can keep getting “great deals” from you!
