Cleaning Out Your Wallet

If you are in the small minority of people who keeps their wallet relatively free of the sort of junk that clogs up the wallets of so many, you are lucky indeed; for most people, however, wallets tend to take on a lot of weight over the years, and when you start to try to clean it out, it can be difficult to know exactly what you can and cannot get rid of. Even though this can be difficult, however, it is also important for you wallet to be streamlined, as this not only makes it easier to get in and out of stores, but it also (if you are a guy) will keep you from having back problems from sitting on a bulky wallet, (if you are a gal) will make your purse lighter, and (for everyone) will make a lost wallet a lot less dangerous and nerve-wracking.

If you are hoping to make your wallet a little bit lighter, the first thing you need to do is get rid of any pictures or receipts or scraps of paper that are padding the inside of your wallet, as these items do little but make your wallet bulkier and (if you have personal information written on any receipts or scraps of paper) make a lost wallet more dangerous.

When it comes to cash, you should always keep some on you in case of emergency, but you can lighten your wallet (and keep your money safer) by carrying a minimal amount of money in your wallet.

And no matter how many credit cards you own, you should keep your cards to no more than two: one credit card and your debit card; this “cutting out of cards” also includes “rewards” cards and “membership” cards, as most places that offer such cards can pull up your information using your email address or phone number!

Cleaning out your wallet can seem like a real hassle, but once you have made the effort to do so, you will be happy that you did – and your back or your purse will certainly thank you in the long run!

The Benefits Of The Cold Call

One technique of the sales world that has been around for ages is the cold call. It is also one of the most widely ridiculed! This is the case for a number of reasons, but one of the primary reasons is because a lot of people just plain do not like getting cold calls. In fact, most people out there don't much appreciate having anything at all "sold" to them! You have probably been at the wrong end of a bad cold call once or twice yourself. And by knowing this, you already know the biggest key to cold calling: Do not do it the way everyone else does! You have already lost the battle if someone picks up and thinks, "Oh, great - another cold call." Instead, you need to figure out how to cold call differently.

The first thing you have to do is put in your time researching. A little research can go a long way, and can save you a lot of time. Instead of calling people blindly - as if putting a scarf over your eyes at the firing range - research can help you call in a more focused manner. There are plenty of avenues by which you can gather good information to help your cold calls, but research and studies of your own are the most valuable of all.

When the time comes to make the call, have confidence. One of the best ways to improve confidence - in fact, one of the best ways to improve your overall success - is to have a script. Once you have a script, stick to it! The script should not be word-for-word, but you need to know the general idea of what you will say and where you will take the conversation. You can refine your script over time as well. Add things onto the script when you find that they work. When you find something in particular that does not work, take it out of the script.

As you become more practiced, you can customize your script depending on who you talk to. Maybe you will want to soften things up when speaking to a small business owner. Maybe stiffen up a bit - becoming more formal - when speaking with a high-ranking executive. The more cold calls you make, the more adept you will be at making adjustments.

Some companies have decided to cut cold calls out of their strategy altogether, claiming that they no longer work. But with the proper use of cold calls, they can actually benefit your business a lot!

Helping Your Son Or Daughter Learn How To Shoot A Soccer Ball

If you have a son or daughter who has started playing soccer (or if they are simply starting to show an interest in soccer), one of the things that will be fun for you to do - both in order to help them, and in order to show an interest in the things they are doing - is to teach them how to shoot the soccer ball well. This might seem like a tall order, but the good news is that - regardless of whether you are a mom or a dad, and regardless of whether you have ever played soccer before yourself - it is really not that difficult to know how to help your child kick the soccer ball the right way!

For most kids just starting to play soccer, it will seem "natural" to them to kick the ball with their toes, but this is inadvisable, as "toeing" the ball will give it less power than can be otherwise achieved, and (more importantly) toeing the ball can make it difficult to direct the kick and can also cause broken toes!

When your child is practicing shooting the soccer ball, help them get into the habit of planting their non-kicking foot even with the ball, and using the top/inside of their kicking foot to "swipe" through the ball, as this will give them the power and control they need in order to have a good shot.

And naturally, practice will also play an important role; no one can go out onto a soccer field and simply "shoot the ball well," so if your child is starting to really get into soccer (and is wanting to get good), make sure you do your best to encourage them to put in the proper "practice time" to get where they want to be.

Even if you were never an all-world soccer player yourself, you will be able to help your son or daughter become a better goal-scorer on the soccer field when they go out there to play, as long as you follow these tips!

The Seven Pieces Of Your Business Plan

If the time has come for you to write a business plan, you might be at a loss as to how you should proceed. Many people realize the importance of a business plan for a startup in need of a loan, but actually, a business plan is important for businesses at all points in their lives. A business plan gives your business direction and a definition of purpose, all in a tidy, organized document. These are the seven elements that you will need to include in your business plan.

1) Executive Summary: This will be the last part you write - it is basically a summary of everything you will say in the document - but it will come at the beginning.

2) Company Description: If you are a new business, this will contain your startup plans; if you have been around, this part will include your history up to this point.

3) Product or Service: Keep the focus on the customer in this section, as you desribe in detail what you plan to sell or perform

4) Market Analysis: Especially if you need a loan, this is a very important section. In this section, you should prove your understanding of both the market and your customer's needs, as well as your plans to reach the customers.

5) Strategy and Implementation: Concreteness is important in this section; make sure that you aim to avoid vagueness. Give concrete details about your company's structure and strategies.

6) Management Team: As you dig into the backgrounds and histories of your key team members, this section can become an excellent selling point.

7) Financial Strategy: If you are a startup, make sure you have detailed projections in this section, including cash flow, balance sheet, and break-even analysis.

Whether you are an established business with your feet under you already or a startup trying to gain a foothold, a good business plan can be of great benefit to you and your future success. A sloppy business plan, on the other hand, can prevent you from procuring necessary financial support, and can keep your business from moving forward.

How to Open Your Home To Guests

When you are going to have guests staying at your house, understanding how to open your home to them in such a way that they feel welcome and "at home" in spite of the fact that they are in your home will be one of the things that will be especially important; after all, it is always much better to feel comfortable and "at home" than to feel as if you are infringing on someone else's life and space! But even though you may invite someone into your home with intentions of making sure they feel as welcome as possible, ensuring that your guest actually feels welcome is sometimes more difficult than it seems on the surface - and it is for this reason that it is extremely important, if you will be inviting guests into your home, that you understand the steps you should take!

One of the first things most hosts do when someone is coming into their home is, they tell the person that they should "feel at home," but oftentimes, the host's actions do not back up these words; rather than treating your guest as a "guest" (which, quite often, will make them feel like an outsider), try your best to treat your guest like family, as this will make them feel much more comfortable in your home.

When you have a guest coming to your house, you should also do your best to adjust your schedule in order to be able to spend time with them, but it is also good for you to recognize that many people need "alone time" just as much as they need time around others - which means that you should also give them enough space to spend some time alone as well.

And finally, when it comes to opening your home to guests, going out of your way to do extra things for them will be a big key; although it can be easy to think, "I am already doing plenty for them by allowing them to stay in my home," you will actually find that you will get even more enjoyment out of their stay when you make an effort to do extra things for them!

Running Your Small Business from a Distance

There are many problems that small business owners run into. Every line of business across the spectrum deal with the same issues as a general rule of thumb. Hiring trustworthy and hard working staff members is one of the top issues. Since it is so hard to find people of this quality, it can often mean that the owner themselves work much more than they imagined. A work-life balance that is completely out of whack ends up happening.

A book that focuses on restoring this work-life balance for business owners who need it is titled How to Succeed as a Small Business Owner and Still Have a Life. If you cannot enjoy some quality time away from your business then there is no joy in having one that is successful. Your small business isn't meant to eliminate your personal life, but should help to make it more enjoyable than it was before. Making sure that your life thrives away from your small business was the reason that Bill Collier wrote this particular book.

Your staff will end up being the major tool that allows you to run a successful business while enjoying your time away. Collier focuses on developing a business plan with your staff at the center of it. Providing values to work by is probably the best way you can make sure your staff is successful. If you run your business by a strong set of values you will be able to help guide your employees without actually being with them. The ultimate goal of small business owners should be here.

20 chapters centering around goals are written by Collier. He will guide you on setting these goals, planning accordingly to help achieve them, and to execute the plans you come up with. Laying out this three step process is meant to provide you with a base for your business. A measurement of success will be taken once you can find out how well your business runs without you needing to be there. When you are away from your business you will no longer need to worry about it.

Taking Good Pictures Of Nature

Whether you are a seasoned photographer or someone just starting out, nature photographs can be some of the most breathtaking photgraphs you can take. And also, whether you are a seasoned photographer or someone just starting out, you can take great nature photographs just by following a few simple rules. Although practice and experience are the best teachers when it comes to taking photographs, you can still follow these tips to take your "practice" to a place where it turns into beauty.

image

Failing to pick out something that the picture is actually of is one of the biggest things people fail to do when it comes to taking pictures of nature. For instance, you might want to capture the whole scene at once if you see a large landscape that is beautiful. But in so doing, you will have a picture that is focused on so many things, nothing at all stands out to the viewer. You should always pick one thing to focus on in taking the picture, and the rest of the beauty will come along with it!

It is also important that you become intimately familiar with your camera's settings, so that you can learn how you should set your camera for different types of weather and for different subjects. One of the best ways to do this is to study books on photography, as these will train you in all the things you need to know. When it comes to finding good books on photography for excellent prices, Amazon is the place to go!

And one of the biggest things that people miss when it comes to pictures of nature is the fact that the little things are often as beautiful as the big things. Always remain on the lookout for the little bits of beauty that others miss, as these are sure to impact those who view your pictures. After all, when you have a picture that focuses on something small, beautiful, and specific - but with a huge, beautiful landscape in the background - it is sure to hit its mark.

As you study the principles and aesthetics of photography - and as you practice and get to know the settings on your camera - you will be able to do much more with the nature photgraphs you are going out to take!
