Planning A Family Sailing Trip

If your children are grown up, out of the house, and moved away, one of the best ways to get the whole family back together again for a week of making memories and having fun is by planning a family sailing trip - and one of the best places to plan a family sailing trip is in the British Virgin Islands, where you can rent a boat for a reasonable price and have a week of great weather, breathtaking beauty, and endless beaches to explore. Even if you do not know how to sail, this is no problem, as many of the charter companies will teach you everything you need to know!

If you want your family sailing trip to be successful, the first thing you will want to do is make sure that you plan to arrive earlier than you "have" to; more than likely, you will fly to Tortolla to start your adventure, and you never know what might happen between "here" and "there."

You should also make an effort to pack as much food as you can, as this will allow you to cook on the boat any nights you want - without paying the prices charged in grocery stores on the island!

Make sure you get a boat that will have enough room for everyone; you will already be in "cramped quarters," as you will be on a boat all week, so you want to make sure everyone has enough personal space to keep them comfortable.

Finally - even though it might seem like it will be fun to just get out there and "wing it" - you will want to make sure you have a general plan in place before you take off, having an idea of the islands you want to see, and the order in which you will see them.

Once you settle all these things into place, your trip is sure to go smoothly, and once you get everyone together in those gorgeous Caribbean waters, you are sure to have a great time!
