Keep Home Court Through Relationship Building
Establishing your business presence in your immediate surrounding area is very important. Your backyard should be the easiest place to get business, although everyone knows this is not always the case. If you want to solidify the territory around your business and keep others out there are effective methods to use. The best one is to have constant personal contact with both current and potential customers to build relationships. Effective businesses are great at building and sustaining relationships. If you want your current customers to stay loyal to you keep in constant contact with them. Get in front of your local current customers in person as often as you possibly can and make it a habitual process. Your customers will feel like they are dealing with a person instead of a business and will develop a bond with you on that level. This personal relationship should eliminate any chance that a competitor may have for stealing them from your business. Potential customers are a whole different animal. Many people feel like if these customers already told you 'no' that they aren't worth your time. But keep in mind that if their dealings turn sour with their current provider they will turn somewhere else. The first person they contact when making this switch needs to be you and your business. If you are constantly visiting them and touching base, they will come to you if there is ever an issue with their current provider. Make sure you establish relationships with anyone and everyone in your local area to get the most business out of it. People often mistake the word 'no' for 'never' instead of what it really means; 'not now'. You need to use this method if you ever hope to be distanced from others in your field. Every one in the neighborhood will praise you as a great business to deal with if you are always in front of them offering your help.
