Have teens with acne in your household? Looking for skin care advice for that troubled skin? Use these skin care tips as guidelines for clear, clean complexions.
Stay on top of your skin. It's important to wash in the morning and night, but you really shouldn't wash more than that. Too much washing (especially if you're using harsh soaps) will make your skin dry out and crack. Invest in a gentle cleanser, and never use soap.
Add an exfoliant to your routine, getting all the oil and dirt out of your pores. You can make a homemade scrub by taking three uncoated aspirin tablets and putting them in a small container with half a tablespoon of water. Crush it up with a spoon, mixing in the water. Then stir in a couple tablespoons of honey. Mix and use as a scrub on T-zone, which is the nose, forehead, and chin. Rinse with warm water.
Use moisturizer every morning and evening. Use a generous amount of a moisturizer with salicylic acid in it; this will protect you against additional break outs. Don't fear moisturizer will clog your pores; just use an oil-free one. The bigger problem is when you don’t moisturize, because then your skin is thirsty and overproduces oil to compensate for the dryness.
Stay away from cream makeup and liquid foundation if you have severe acne. Instead look for mineral powder make up, and use it very sparingly.
When dealing with serious blackhead problems, visit an esthetician and pay for a professional extraction. If you try to remove blackheads at home, be sure to wash your face and hands thoroughly, steam your face to open pores, and sterilize any instruments you use to assist the extraction. Try not to irreparably damage skin. It's worth it to prevent scarring or further infection; hire a professional, even if it's costly.
The small time investment will help you have glowing skin. Don't ignore your skin; problems can flare up quickly when skin gets irritated.
