Beets and Their Health Benefits

Eating beets have fallen out of favor over the years, which is extremely unfortunate because of how healthy they are for us. Beets are a root vegetable that doesn’t have an extremely strong flavor but has one that requires a bit of getting used to. Beets are oozing with goodness.

They are very high in antioxidants, which help to fight aging. Antioxidants are what help to fight the damage done by free radicals, which run rampant in everyone's body. Free radicals damage cells, and antioxidants can be of great help. Furthermore research is beginning to show that beets can potentially slow down and/ or fight cancer cells. This is wonderful news because they can be so easily added to your diet.

Beets are a wonderful way to help detoxify your body. They increase your fiber intake which is good for your digestion and your heart. With so many health benefits why would you not want to eat these little jems?

You don't just have ot eat the beetroot, but can also gain a lot of health benefits from eatting the greens as well. The greens have more iron, vitamin A, and calcium than the roots. Greens are strong tasting like most leafy green veggies are. How do you eat your beets? My favorite is pickled beets. They are sweet and make a great addition to salad. You can purchase your own picked beets at most grocery stores, or you can make your own pickled beats very easily also. You can even make refrigerator pickled beets by soaking them in brine containing vinegar and sugar.

For many other ways to eat them, check out  The Antiinflammation Diet and Recipe Book. Providing a wide range of healthy recipes to enjoy. It may take a bit to get used to, but every your children can come to love them.
