Critters To Add To Your Saltwater Tank

When you have a saltwater tank, there will probably be lots of different fish – and even, perhaps, several plants – of which you are envious, as you will know for months that you are wanting to add these to your tank, but one thing that people do not think of as often are the “critters” that they can add to the tank as well. There is no shortage of really cool critters out there in the ocean, and many of these are also available as really cool things that you can add to your tank; if you are thinking of adding some critters yourself, here are a few for you to keep in mind.

Clams are a really neat addition to a tank, as they are something unusual to have in a saltwater tank; if you add clams to your tank, you will not see them often as they will bury themselves in the sand, but every once in a while you will see them pop up – and even when you do not see them, they will be keeping the sand aerated and churned, which is important for your aquarium.

Crabs are also helpful for your tank, and you will get to see them a lot more than you will see clams as well; crabs do not do well with some fish, so make sure they will be compatible with yours before you add them, but if they will be, they are highly entertaining, and they will keep the surface of the substrate clean.

And another critter that is thoroughly entertaining (and that also helps your tank – although, not as much as clams and crabs do) are shrimp, and once you start looking at shrimp to add to your saltwater tank, you will find that there are some truly beautiful specimens that you can consider.

When you have a saltwater aquarium, part of the fun is trying different things, so next time you are wanting to add something unique to your tank, keep these three options in mind!
