If you have recently started a band and are hoping to make a name for yourself in the local music scene, you might have thought that it is probably difficult to land shows through which you can showcase your stuff and build an audience – and this can be discouraging, as showcasing your stuff and building an audience will be a vital part of having success with your music! But what you might not have realized is that - as long as you know what you are doing - it is actually quite easy for you to start booking some shows for your band. Firstly, you will need to convince yourself that there is no reason to feel intimidated as you try to set up shows for your band (that is to say, there is no need for you to think that your band will get “rejected” by the venues you contact); the worst case scenario is that these venues will say “No,” and chances are, they will probably be happy to have you play at their venue, as most places are always on the lookout for bands to fill their spots! When you call or contact these venues, the main thing you need to realize is that it costs them money to open the doors for a show, and your best way to get your foot in the door is to be willing to cover any money they lose from your own pocket. And after the show is in place, you can start taking the steps to make sure that you will not end up having to cover any losses; the best way to ensure that enough people show up at your concert to help the venue and to help you is by firstly contacting a few other bands and having them play with you, as you can add their fan base to the audience as well, and secondly to advertise so that people know about your concert! The more concerts you play, the more people will see you; the more people see you, the more fans you will gain; the more fans you gain, the more you close the gap on that ever-elusive "success"! http://bluerose.jamesloving.com/
