Keeping Your Pets Cool In The Summer

One thing you will notice during this time of year if you have a dog or cat is that they do not especially enjoy the heat; of course, your pets will shed a lot of their hair to help their body withstand the heat a little bit better, but this does not alleviate the problem completely, and if you are looking for some ways to make your pet more comfortable, there are a few things you can do! While it might seem like you are "taking things too far" when you take time out of your day to make sure your pet is staying cool when they will be able to survive just fine without your help, none of these ideas take more than a couple minutes, and they will go a long way in making sure that your pet is happy and comfortable all summer!

First off, you will want to make sure that any floor vents that air conditioning comes through are uncovered, and that there are comfortable places around these floor vents for your pet to lie down so that they can catch the cool air that comes up.

Of course, if you are having to take steps to ensure that your pets are comfortable - and are not so hot - chances are you do not have floor vents in the first place, but that is okay, because you can also make sure ceiling fans are running in the room where your pet spends their time, or that there is a cool place where your pets can lie down with a floor fan pointed on them.

And one idea that takes a bit more effort, as you will have to keep up with it a couple times a day - but that also will go a long way in keeping your pet happy - is to add ice to their water! In addition to being able to keep their body cooler when you do this, you will also keep their body healthier, as they will be far more likely to drink their water during the summer when you are taking steps to make sure that the water is cold!
