Getting People To Notice Your Writing

If you have ever considered pursuing writing, you might have thought that the process to becoming a successful, published author goes something like this: write a novel, spend a little bit of time editing the novel, get the novel published, then kick back and enjoy the money that comes in from the sales. But even if you happen to have penned a stellar piece of literature, the process is a bit more difficult; in fact - unless you earned your MFA from Columbia or Yale (in which case you could have a renowned professor blurb your book and tell everyone about it!) - it will be absolutely necessary for you to know how to get people to notice your writing, no matter how good it might be!

Even before you have finished the first draft of your novel (in fact, even before you have started writing the first draft of your novel!), you can take the first step toward getting people to notice your writing, which is starting a blog and building your readership, as this will help you when you start searching for an agent, and you will also find that many of these readers will remain loyal to you when your book gets published.

As you begin to cultivate your readership and your style on your website, you should also make sure you keep your readers updated on where you are in the process, as readers will feel more connected to you if you give them such updates, and when you have some of your writing completed, you should also post a sample of it on your site for readers to enjoy.

And one of the toughest things of all - but one of the most important - is getting readers to spread the word for you; even if you think you might be annoying your readers, continue to encourage them to spread the word, and your readers will eventually start to do so, with the benefits of this coming back to you.

In time, of course, good writing will usually be noticed - but if you do not want to be waiting around for ages and ages, take these steps, and you will start to get people to notice your writing.
