Three Reasons Why You Should Buy Energy-Saving Light Bulbs

Perhaps you have seen energy-saving light bulbs in the lighting section of your local hardware store or grocery store and thought, "Why would anyone buy those when they're more expensive?" Actually, there are several reasons why someone would buy energy-efficient light bulbs, and - believe it or not - cost is actually one of these reasons!

Of course, even if the cost had nothing to do with it, you should already want to use energy-efficient light bulbs in order to - you know - use less energy! In this age where environmentally conscious decisions are coming to the forefront, you should consider hopping on board. Not because "going green" is popular, or because it is the hip thing to do right now, but because, quite frankly, going green is important. The more we do to preserve the environment now, the better shape it will be in down the road.

Of course, if the whole environmental factor is not enough to push you toward buying energy-saving light bulbs, consider this also: it will save you money! While incandescent bulbs cost a few dollars less than a pack of CFL or LED lights, they also use more wattage. For instance, a 10 watt CFL bulb emits the same amount of light as a 40 watt incandescent bulb. This means that you could use an incandescent bulb for one hour, or you could use a CFL bulb for four hours, for the same amount of money. By simply replacing incandescent bulbs with CFL bulbs throughout your house, you could shave 75% off the lighting portion of your energy bill!

Along the same line as the positive of "money saving" is the fact that these energy-saving bulbs last up to ten times longer than incandescent bulbs! You will more than make up for the few extra dollars you spent on those CFL bulbs, because you will be buying light bulbs far less often than before. Also, you will not have to change your light bulbs nearly as often as you used to, which might be the best part of all. Because, if truth be told, no one enjoys fiddling around in those light fixtures, changing light bulbs.

If you choose to make the switch to energy-efficient light bulbs, you can protect the environment, save money, and keep yourself from having to change light bulbs all the time. And all three of those are great reasons for making the switch!
